I've been wanting to put my training on record for sometime. Not just my Garmin/Strava stats but how I feel pre, during and post workout. The NYC Marathon was 17 days ago. I ran the race as a celebration of life and the joys that this new running culture brings to me, weather its my unselfish teammates or the at large running community here in New York City. It felt great to run down these 'Mean Sreets' and be cheered like the winning home teams. The New York City marathon will always be a special race for me as I have enjoyed it from every possible way. I've been a spectator, Running Fan, Volunteer and Runner. I look forward to my next NYC Marathon which I plan to run in 2019. Well I want to start keeping this blog as a way of keeping track of my training as I get closer to my 50th birthday. I'm pretty sure I can run fast times if I can get a grip on my eating habits, build upper body strength to help support my long distance running and train in a manner that...

This was my basic run to the East side river park. Going out in the evening is allowing me to get acclimated to the humidity and heat. While I do have upcoming races i should be well prepared for the tasks. While I am building a base i am having a hard time trying to figure out how best to add some speed work to my training so as to not lose the hard earned fitness that I have earned during the last 6 months. I threw in a 6:51 mile only because some a$$hole passed me but it was what he did after wards that got me upset. He kept looking over his shoulder to see if I was near so I decided to blast right passed him. i went from and 8 minute mile to a 6:51 mile and he could never keep up. not bad for an old guy.

After having planned a long run of 10-12 miles today I woke up with a horrible headache due to the (don't laugh) 2 Sam Adams I had after 2AM, not a good idea. As I type this its actually 15 degrees outside and the windchill makes it feel like 5 or 1 Oh I don't know but I'm going to get it done in this dreadful weather because I am tired of the dreadmill, I need to be outside to run. I started running again in October 2010. I started of slow and steady with a lot of cross training to build up the weak muscle groups. I am glad to say that while I have had some issues I have had no injuries that had me stop running altogether. I have been able to get to the gym at least 2 times a week and I am happy with my improvements. I have lost over 15 pounds and have had my BMI go from 26% to 19%. While I am short of my long term goals I am very happy with my short term improvements. Stay tuned for regular updates....
